Jon, Heather & Christian,

Just wanted to drop you a note and tell you how much Vicki, Sharon, Kajal and I appreciated your company, conversation and many courtesies during our short stay in Erbil and Dohuk.  Your invitation to dinner was a lot of time out of your schedule and we appreciated getting to know you, learning more about Iraq and Kurdistan and hearing about what you have been doing during your time in this remarkable place.

Our visits to the Homi's and Tiari's were just wonderful.  I am hopeful that we can do more to assure the next generation of Kurdistan Latter-Day Saints is highly educated and fully committed to the Gospel.  We were treated so warmly and enjoyed our time with each family immensely.  Thanks for helping that to take place.  Thank you for making the special effort to drive all the way up there to be with us - again my apologies for being so late on Thursday night.

We came away from our trip committed to begin to do humanitarian work in Kurdistan.  We will also work with the Senior Brethren to soon become a registered NGO and I think that will further assist us in assigning a humanitarian specialist couple in the area.  Those are my goals now that I have been there but some may be tempered by the realities of Church operating funds, events in the area or the judgement of the Senior Brethren.

However, we simply could not have gotten all of our goals accomplished without your assistance.  Thank you again for your time and the valuable help you provided.

Warmest regards,

Elder Bruce Carlson
